About the internship
Interior Design Counsellor Homeowner Advisory & Designer Partnerships
About the role
Getting Home interiors done is one of the most expensive, most confusing decisions an Indian homeowner will ever make. Most people go in with no idea what a fair quote looks like, which designer suits their project, or what questions to even ask. That is the gap you fill.
As a Counsellor at HeyBuddy, you are the person homeowners speak to before they commit lakhs of rupees you understand their project, cut through the noise, and guide them to the right design partner. You are equally the person who counsels interior designers on why partnering with HeyBuddy is worth their time, and brings the best ones onto the platform.
This role is 45% Homeowner Counselling, 30% Designer Partnerships & Onboarding, 15% Pipeline & CRM, 10% Coordination.
Selected candidate's day-to-day responsibilities include:
Homeowner counselling: Speaking with homeowners who enquire through our website, ads, and expos understanding their home, budget, and timeline, explaining how interior projects actually get priced and executed, and advising them on the right approach. This is advisory, not pitching. Our brand is built on being the honest voice in a market full of inflated quotes.
Needs assessment & qualification: Drawing out what matters property location, possession status, scope (full home vs. modular vs. renovation), realistic budget range, and timeline and mapping each homeowner to the right designer profile.
Designer partnerships & recruitment: Owning our designer partner pipeline end to end sourcing interior designers and firms across Delhi NCR via Instagram, referrals, listings, and market research, then counselling them on the HeyBuddy partnership model and bringing them onboard. Functionally, this is recruitment: sourcing, screening, pitching an opportunity, negotiating terms, closing.
Designer screening & onboarding: Evaluating design partners on portfolio quality, execution capability, team strength, ticket-size fit, and client feedback then guiding shortlisted partners through documentation, commission terms, and onboarding until they are live and receiving leads.
Follow-ups & relationship building: Running structured follow-up cycles over calls and WhatsApp on both sides, so no homeowner is left hanging and no designer conversation goes cold. Many homeowners take 3-6 months to decide; staying useful across that window is the job.
CRM & pipeline hygiene: Logging every conversation, outcome, and next step across both pipelines so the team has a clean, live view.
Matchmaking & coordination: Setting up designer introductions and site visits, confirming with both parties, and following up after every meeting to gather feedback.
Voice of the market: Reporting back what homeowners and designers are actually saying objections, pricing concerns, competitor mentions so marketing, product, and the founders can act on it.
Skill(s) required
Hindi and English proficiency (spoken), consultative communication, active listening, sourcing and screening ability, negotiation, MS Excel/Google Sheets, CRM tools (training provided)
Who can apply
Candidates who genuinely enjoy long, layered conversations and can hold their own advising someone on a 10-50 lakh decision. You should be patient and consultative rather than pushy, comfortable with high daily call volumes, and available for a full-time in-office role in Ghaziabad/Noida.
Prior experience as a counsellor (edtech, career, admissions), or in recruitment, HR, real estate, or interiors, is a strong plus if you have run an admissions funnel or a hiring pipeline before, both halves of this role will feel familiar. Freshers with strong communication skills and real curiosity about homes and design are welcome.
Why this role is different
You are not reading a script. You are advising homeowners on one of the biggest purchases of their lives, and simultaneously building the designer network that makes that advice possible. You will learn how interiors are priced, how designers actually operate, and how a two-sided marketplace is built from the founders directly.
Growth path
We hire at two entry points and the ladder is the same from there:
Entry Intern (3-6 months) or Counsellor (direct)
If you join as an intern, you will do real counselling from week one, not shadow work. We evaluate on conversation quality, follow-up discipline, and outcomes and convert you to a full-time Counsellor once you have shown you can hold a homeowner conversation end to end. If you already have relevant experience, you start directly as a Counsellor.
Counsellor
You own your own pipeline homeowners and designer partners and are measured on qualified site visits and partner activations.
Senior Counsellor
You continue running your pipeline, but you also mentor 2-3 junior counsellors: reviewing their calls, sitting in on tough conversations, and helping them close.
Skill(s) required
Client Relationship
Effective Communication
English Proficiency (Spoken)
Negotiations
Sales
Earn certifications in these skills
Who can apply
Only those candidates can apply who:
1. are available for full time (in-office) internship
2. can start the internship between 31st Jul'26 and 4th Sep'26
3. are available for duration of 6 months
4. are from Noida only
5. have relevant skills and interests
* Women wanting to start/restart their career can also apply.
Other requirements
You genuinely like talking to people. Not "I'm a people person" on a resume — you are the person who ends up in a 40-minute conversation with a stranger and enjoys it. Most of this job is talking. If that drains you, this is the wrong role. If it energises you, you will be very good at it.
You listen more than you speak. The best counsellors ask one more question before answering. A homeowner saying "I have a budget of 15 lakhs" is rarely the full story — you are the one who finds out it is actually 12, that possession is delayed, and that the real anxiety is not being cheated. That is the skill we hire for.
Exceptional communicator across very different rooms. You can calm an anxious first-time homeowner, hold a straight negotiation with a design firm, and explain a commission structure without either side feeling sold to — with equal empathy and professionalism.
You are comfortable being the honest voice. Sometimes the right advice is "this quote is fair, go ahead" and sometimes it is "wait three months." We do not want a closer who says whatever wins the deal. Homeowners can tell the difference, and our entire brand rests on it.
Resilient and adaptable. Startups change fast, and so do homeowners — plans shift, budgets move, calls go nowhere. You need to be comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and the occasional conversation that goes badly.
