About the internship
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Draft and file RTI applications across relevant departments
2. Track RTI timelines, appeals, and responses
3. Conduct legal research on environmental laws, CRZ norms, municipal regulations, forest acts, coastal regulations, land laws, and administrative procedures
4. Analyze government approvals, licenses, and compliance frameworks
5. Assist in drafting complaints, representations, legal notes, and petitions
6. Maintain structured legal documentation and evidence repositories
7. Support lawyers in preparing PILs and court filings
8. Attend hearings when required and prepare briefs
9. Coordinate with journalists to convert field evidence into legal material
10. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards

Other requirements
1. Law students (preferably 2nd year onwards), fresh law graduates, junior advocates
2. Strong interest in public interest law, environmental law, and governance reform
3. Good legal research and drafting ability
4. Comfortable working with statutes, notifications, circulars, and case law
5. Organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined
6. Willingness to learn litigation workflows and RTI processes
7. High integrity and professionalism
8. Prior RTI drafting experience
9. Court exposure or internship experience

We are building a citizen-driven public accountability platform that investigates governance failures and environmental violations and converts evidence into structured legal action, including RTIs, complaints, and Public Interest Litigations (PILs).
The objective is to create a sustainable pipeline between ground reporting, legal research, and institutional accountability.
As a Volunteer Legal Researcher / RTI Associate, you will support legal strategy, draft RTI applications, conduct statutory research, analyze compliance violations, and assist in preparing case documentation for litigation and regulatory action.
Stipend & Support (Choose One Option)
Option 1: Monthly stipend provided; no accommodation or food support
Option 2: No stipend; accommodation and food fully provided
Work-related travel expenses reimbursed in both cases

Work Structure & Time Commitment
– Flexible 4–5 days working week depending on court schedules, research cycles, and filing timelines
– Flexible working hours with an expected engagement of approximately 8–9 hours per working day
– Work may involve early filings, hearings, or deadline-driven research, depending on case needs
– Outcome-driven role rather than fixed desk hours
Commitment Expectation
Minimum engagement of 4 months preferred. Work involves research intensity, deadline discipline, and responsibility for accuracy.
