DESCRIPTION
About the internship
A. Product design:
1. Assisting in designing components and systems for mechanical products, focusing on performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
3. Applying design for machining, design for analysis, and design for manufacture principles to ensure robust and practical designs.
4. Collaborating with the team to refine and optimize designs based on feedback and testing.
B. Product development:
1. Supporting the development of prototypes for new products, ensuring designs meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
2. Conducting mechanical analysis (stress, thermal, vibration) to validate designs.
3. Integrating mechanical subsystems with electrical and embedded systems.
C. Supplier coordination:
1. Liaising with vendors to source materials and components, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
2. Communicating design intent clearly through documentation and GD&T standards.
D. Manufacturing & fabrication:
1. Collaborating with manufacturing teams to transition designs from prototype to production.
2. Providing support during fabrication, including troubleshooting issues and ensuring precision in execution.
3. Gaining hands-on exposure to CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and polymer 3D printing processes.

Other requirements
1. Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
2. Proficiency in CAD tools: SolidWorks, Creo, and AutoCAD (3D modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings).
3. Familiarity with CNC machining processes and design-for-machining principles.
4. Basic understanding of sheet metal design, bending, cutting, and manufacturability.
5. Familiarity with polymer-based 3D printing processes (FDM, SLA) for prototyping.
6. Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) for clear design communication.
7. Exposure to FEA tools (ANSYS, PrePoMax) is a plus, but not mandatory.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for robotics, automation, and AI-driven systems.
9. Attention to detail, documentation discipline, and enthusiasm for hands-on prototyping.
