How to Make Arduino VU Meter ( LED Logo)

DESCRIPTION

Hey guys. Today we will show you our updated VU meter. We used Arduino for the processing and the project is very easy to do. So whether you are a professional or a beginner, you will find this tutorial helpful. We made a VU meter earlier also but here, we made a few changes to give it a better look and making it more precise. We will be using the LED logo of our channel to visualize the VU meter. So before starting you can watch this video that we made for this tutorial.

Here is the link:

Description:

First of all, gather all the parts. Here we have used our YouTube channel logo that is made of 100 LEDs soldered in a Veroboard. If you want to just make it with 14 LEDs, then the requirement list is as following:

  1. Breadboard
  2. Microphone module
  3. Hookup wires and jumpers
  4. Arduino Uno
  5. Battery - 9V (X 2)
  6. 3mm LEDs (X 14)
  7. 100ohm Resistor (X 14)

Now if you want to make your own LED design, then you need these items extra:

  1. Veroboard
  2. Many 3mm LEDs
  3. Soldering equipment

Description:

Making of the logo out of LED is very easy but very tiring as well.

  1. Download a software VeroDes.
  2. Make your design as the picture shows.
  3. Print out that design.
  4. Do some soldering and your logo will be ready.

After this go to next step.

Description:

The circuit is very simple. So follow the given schematic and make your own.

TIP - Use a separate battery for microphone module and Arduino. Don't common the ground. That worked great for us.

Description:

Upload the given code in Arduino.

You can change the sensitivity of the VU meter. Look at the comments in the code.

Description:

Now power up the circuit and put a loud enough music in front of the microphone. Experiment with the code and fix what works for you. Maybe you need to adjust the gain in microphone module to get the perfect result. I hope you can make this project easily.

So that's it. If you face any error or any difficulty in completing the process, feel free to ask us in the comment.

Peace! :)
