How to Make Custom Backgrounds for Your Tamagotchi
DESCRIPTION
Yesterday, I was searching through my junk drawer and I found something you don't see often anymore; a tamagotchi. As I pondered about ideas for the old game, I decided to take it apart. The second I removed the circuit board, the screen came tumbling out. Then, I noticed that the background was just a simple piece of paper, sandwiched in-between the circuit board and the screen. After about twenty minutes of hacking, I figured out how to make my own backgrounds.
You need the following:
1. A tamagotchi v4 (duh)
2. A phillips head scredriver (small)
3. A flat head screwdriver (used to pry open the case, you can use other tools for this
4. ruler
5.paper and other art supplies
(note- I'm not responsible if you kill and/or destroy your tamagotchi pet
Use the phillips head screwdriver to remove the back battery lid from the toy. Then unscrew the four other screws behind the cover plate.
Now, pry open the side of the case (using the flat head screwdriver) by using the tab in the middle (the one highlighted by the blue light). Then, pry the rest of case open pulling from the top of the antenna.
Unscrew the four screws on both sides of the circuit board. After that, pry the circuit board off. The screen should come tumbling out. If it doesn't, pull in off.
Cut a 1 and 1/8th by 1 and 1/8th piece of paper out. Draw you design on here.
Now, take off that black plastic insert and the paper that comes behind it. This is the background.
Place your background on the clear screen of your tamagotchi. Now, reassemble your tamagtchi over the paper.
If you are careful and didn't break anything everything should be fine. If it doesn't work, don't worry, just remove the new background and your precious pet should be fine.
